"The work experience was very activity focused and I really enjoyed the practical photonics and holography demonstrations for schools.

"I already knew wanted to do a Physics degree, however, at the time, I thought I would study Astronomy because I really enjoyed reading books by Stephen Hawking about black holes. 

"Working with Pearl during those two weeks I became confident in the practical side of optics, photonics and lasers. I then knew that I wanted to come to the University of Southampton and that I would opt to do the MPhys Physics with Photonics.
