Optical Fibre and Photonic Engineering MSc

Physics and Astronomy is closely connected to the Optoelectronics Research Centre (ORC) at the University of Southampton.

The ORC is one of the world’s largest and most successful institutions for photonics research. Led by Professor Sir David Payne, its roots date to the birth of lasers and optical communications, nearly 50 years ago, and now covers areas as diverse as lasers, optical communications, nanophotonics, biophotonics, fibre optics, integrated optics and sensors.

The ORC’s MSc in Optical Fibre and Photonic Engineering is designed to place students at the forefront of knowledge in optoelectronics, working in a vibrant community and alongside leaders in the fields of fibre optics and photonics.
