We organise a series of induction events at the start of the academic year to help students familiarise themselves with Physics and Astronomy at Southampton and settle in.
Our induction programme will ensure that you settle in quickly to the University and the teaching programme. You will get to chance to meet members of your tutor group and we will ensure that you can find your way round Southampton.
The programme features a range of events including:
Meeting staff and students
Induction events include a social side, making them an excellent opportunity to meet staff and fellow students.
There will also be plenty of University wide activities, such as welcome events organised by your halls of residence.
Other campus amenities
Specialist staff will introduce you to the library and IT services, and you can choose to have induction to the gym and other sports facilities.
Freshers’ Week
The Southampton University Students' Union (SUSU) hosts Freshers’ Week at the start of each academic year. This is a chance to find out about the University's various clubs and societies, and well as to enjoy a range of entertainment.
